From the first time we met, I was deeply impressed by Xiaofei’s mysterious paintings. His creations skillfully combine elements of dreamlike reality, psychology and mystery to convey profound personal and collective emotions. We sincerely welcome Xiaofei to the gallery.
——Xavier Hofken
Hofken and I hit it off. He is an outstanding gallery representative with both pioneering and traditional qualities in the art world. I am very much looking forward to our cooperation.
——Qiu Xiaofei
Like many thinkers at home and abroad, both ancient and modern, Qiu Xiaofei believes that the movement of time is like a spiral trajectory, with the past, present and future interacting and blending in constant change. His works often contain multiple temporal dimensions and layers, reflecting a psychedelic synergy on the surface of the painting. The foreground and background in the painting intertwine and change, creating a sense of space that transcends logic. In his continuous exploration of "temporality", "spiral" is not only the source of many compositions and images in his works, but also becomes the driving force for the change and development of his painting style.
Qiu Xiaofei's sources of inspiration are abundant, ranging from personal family memories to the geographical relationship between his hometown of Harbin and the Soviet Union, and he draws nourishment from the history of ideology and ancient religious compositions. In recent years, he has begun to use someTraditional mineral and vegetable colors, these colors not only have their own organic texture, but also infiltrate a layer of distant meaning into the picture. In his dreamlike and mysterious compositions,Often showing abstract and figurative elements at the same time,The imagery and texture of landscape painting are embedded in the fantasy and exquisite two-dimensional images, creating a unique contemporary psychological picture.
