Botticelli Sold for $45.4 Million at Sotheby's Auction
On January 27, 2022, Sotheby's New York "Master Paintings & Sculpture Part I" successfully concluded, led by Botticelli's "The Man Of Sorrows", which sold for US$45,419,700 (about 288 million RMB) , became the artist's second most expensive work (in 2021, Botticelli's "Portrait Of A Young Man Holding A Roundel" was sold at Sotheby's New York for US$92,184,000 (about 590 million RMB), setting the artist's personal record).
