Jean-Michel Basquiat's Untitled reached HK $234 million, achieving the second-highest price in Asia

On May 24, 2021, the Evening Auction of Christie's Hong Kong Spring Auction of 20th and 21st Century Art" was officially held. Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Untitled achieved the highest value in the auction, with an estimated price of HK $140 million to HK $170 million. This piece was completed in 1982, which is an essential year in the artist's career. It is the heyday of the artist's most vigorous creativity and most mature style. This is the second auction of Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Untitled. Previously in March 2017, it was auctioned in Sotheby's London and sold for US $14.77 million. Four years later, in Christie's Hong Kong, it was on auction again. After fierce bidding, the price rose rapidly. Finally, the auction was completed with the price of HK $202 million, with a commission of HK $234 million via the entrustment on the phone by Client No. 8216. The price doubled in four years, making it the second-highest price work of artist in Asia.

On March 23, 2021, during Christie's Hong Kong Evening Auction Special Event-- the Fearlessness of the Warrior, hammer was raised for Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Warrior" officially. Baskia's warrior was valued at HK $240-320 million and finally sold for HK $320 million. He Shanheng won the painting as the representative of the client "8804". The work became the most expensive western art in Asia. It was the fourth time that Baskia's Warrior was in the auction. And its value has increased nearly 22 times in 16 years. It has also become the Top 5 of Baskia's list of auctions.
