We are honored to announce that the solo exhibition of Zhu Yiming will open on December 7th at the Hefei space of KeYi Gallery. This is Zhu Yiming's first personal exhibition at KeYi Gallery. The exhibition is themed "Metamorphosis" and presents more than 20 works by the artist in the past two years. The exhibition will continue until January 22, 2025.
The exhibition is called "Metamorphosis", a concept derived from the medical terminology that refers to the process by which a foreign tissue enters an immunologically active host and the host's immune system perceives it as a foreign invader and attacks it with antibodies. This phenomenon is particularly common after organ transplants, where patients often experience a violent rejection reaction and great pain after receiving the organ. Similarly, the interactions between people and between people and societies are similar processes - i.e., the individual is inevitably alienated during the process of rejection, resulting in the formation of new identities and self-perceptions.
Zhu Yiming's creations focus on the interactions and relationships between people, as well as between people and society. By extracting personal emotional experiences into visual language and using associative techniques to recombine elements from daily life, the process of shaping and alienating individuals in different environments is depicted. Artists have always viewed their surroundings and explored their inner selves from a personal perspective. They believe that there are no two identical people in the world, and painting is the most direct medium for expressing one's unique perspective and emotions.
