‘Plumes’ are the long, hard feathers on the wings or tails of birds, which are brightly coloured, light and strong, and play an indispensable role in flight movements and emotional expressions; also give birds the determination'to be dauntless in the sky.’ This exhibition uses the metaphor of feathers, and the artists use their works as plumes, which is a scrutiny and reflection on social discipline, as well as a collective response to the shock experienced by the human mind in the global multicultural collision.
From adventurous myths to the world of the chance to the prototype of force,to the energy jungle, to the individual ‘hinterland’, Cycle Space presents the works of fourteen artists, Wu Xiaohai, Kang Wenfeng, Ren Liang, Lu Yan, Shi Yanliang, Yu Yu, Zhang Yunjia, Su Yuming, Zheng Zihao, Li Wenyuan, Zheng Lijing, Toi, Feng Yan, Huang Weiqing, from the smallest of individuals, to the largest of civilization epics, presenting how the artist merges self-experimentation with the consciousness of the times with the power of a feather lending itself to the whirlwind.
