AI, genetic technology, and IoT mirror the surreal urban landscape brought forth by technological development. The boundaries between the real and virtual worlds are increasingly blurred, marking an exciting era of advancement that subtly reshapes social structures. For the post-95 generation, who are now engaging with society, questions arise: how do they relate to the present, how do they engage with tradition, and how do they navigate increasingly complex emotions? Their unique responses highlight individual choices, yet they share a common insight into the order of this era.
This exhibition features two Hong Kong-based artists, brothers Adrian Chan and Ryan Chan. With the influence of Bauhaus design and rigid social structures, global cities are becoming more uniform in appearance, where more advanced cities reveal a dizzying array of complex geometric patterns. The works of these two artists exude a strong sense of order, blending three distinct forms: the order of reality, the virtual order, and an inner order rooted in the artists’ own perspectives. The brothers have chosen to create computer-like imagery entirely by hand, embodying a unique approach that mirrors an ascetic’s path in the urban landscape—part of this world yet distinctly set apart from it.
