人们大多喜欢技法高超的艺术家,容易被华丽的技巧取悦和打动,通常喜欢炫技的艺术家也会得到很高的评价。我同样不会否定那样的作品,各种表现形式都有其作用和价值。然而我更感兴趣的,是思考每一件能够穿透时间的艺术作品中,那些普世的、恒久存在的永恒之“美”,那是数千年历史中艺术作品流传下来的共通性,也是人类生存的真理。有些东西人类不会过多留意,但缺少了却无法生存,比如“空气”“光明”以及“黑暗”,但这些却是人类生存的本源,而极少数人能够描绘它们。朱建忠,正是这样一位为我们提供入口观看这些生命本真要素的艺术家。他的作品没有任何过度的修饰,也不迎合观众,只有一棵树和不可名状的黑暗中透出的一丝永恒真理。也正因为此,朱建忠是我所珍惜,很庆幸今生可以遇到的少数艺术家之一。
田畑幸人
Most people have a soft spot for technically gifted artists and are easily pleased and swayed when it comes to flamboyant displays of technique. Artists who flaunt their virtuosity tend to get reviewed favorably by the critics. By no means do I discredit the works of such artists, since all kinds of expressive forms have their function and worth. However, I’m more concerned with the universal, everlasting ‘beauty’ contained within those artworks that are capable of transcending time. This beauty, a ‘universality’ passed on through artworks over several thousand years of history, is the underlying truth of mankind’s survival. Mankind tends to be negligent of certain things without which we would be unable to survive, such as ‘air’, ‘light’ and ‘darkness’. Only a select few are able to artistically portray these fundaments of human existence. Zhu Jianzhong happens to be one of those artists capable of providing us with an entry point from which to behold the authentic building blocks of life. His works steer clear of excessive embellishments, and refrain from intentionally pandering to the spectator. A sliver of eternal truth is revealed through the depiction of a single tree or an unfathomable darkness. This is precisely why I consider Zhu Jianzhong to be one of the rare and treasured artists whom I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in my lifetime.
