Taking place live in London on 29 June, Sotheby’s Modern & Contemporary Evening Auction will encompass over a century of pioneering artistic production, beginning with the innovations of the Impressionists, and traversing Futurism, Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art. The sale will include works from two important private collections: Vision of Arcadia offers important works by major artists of the Impressionist movement, including Monet and Renoir. A second group of works from an Important Private Collection presents works in oil and on paper by the Modern masters such as Giacometti, Kandinsky and Klee. Contemporary highlights include an outstanding painting by Gerhard Richter from 1970 entitled Wolkenstudie (Gegenlicht) and a vibrant canvas by Willem de Kooning entitled Running from 1985.
