Auction introduction: This season, Christie’s 20th/21st Century Art Evening Sale is proud to present seminal works by leading masters from modern and post-war eras to contemporary luminaries and emerging artists around the world. The sale preview will be held from 24-28 May at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The evening sale is led by the seminal masterpiece –Sacred Heart (Magenta/Gold) by Jeff Koons. Meanwhile, Black by Jean-Michel Basquiat converses with Barkley L. Hendricks’s Triple Portrait from the Yard while Flowers by Yayoi Kusama joins Night Fishing by Yoshitomo Nara in reinvigorating painting traditions. Other highlights include 10.02.77 by Zao Wou-ki, Délivrance by Chu Teh-chun, and Zhou Xuan by Liu Ye. The sale will also feature important works by Western masters such as René Magritte, Andy Warhol, Jean-Paul Riopelle. In addition, prominent works by Lee Ufan and Park Seo-bo from A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection will be presented.
