Auction introduction: This October’s Post-War and Contemporary Day Sale will feature an outstanding selection of significant works by leading artists from the 20th and 21st centuries. Headlining the sale is Sean Scully’s Fire and Andy Warhol’s striking Vesuvius. Other highlights include works by Ali Banisadr, Jadé Fadojutimi and an important early work by Sonia Boyce.
This season, Christie’s is also proud to collaborate with Blue Marine Foundation to support their vital work in ocean conservation. The auction Blue: Art for the Ocean will feature contributions from over 20 international artists. A key highlight is Marina Abramović’s photograph from her Performance for the Oceans (2024), capturing her as she stands on the shore of Fire Island, New York, offering her unconditional love and energy to the ocean.
