Auction introduction: Having seemingly vanished since its acquisition from Edward T. Chow (1910-1980) in the 1960s, this remarkable collection of exquisite Chinese ceramics is appearing on the market for the first time in over half a century. Each piece was handpicked by Edward T. Chow, who is celebrated for his discerning eye for ceramics. Predominantly comprising some of the rarest and most sought-after monochromes charting the rise and fall of China’s dynasties from the Song to Qing dynasties, highlights include an extremely rare guan-glazed octagonal vase, a Yongle period tianbai-glazed chess jar, and a Yongzheng period pair of ruby-pink and famille-rose ‘lychee’ cups.
