Auction introduction: This autumn, Christie’s 20th/21st Century Evening Sale in Shanghai presents a group of tightly curated works by leading artists from the modern era, alongside stellar contemporary and emerging artists from around the world. The sale preview will be on view from 4 to 7 November at Christie’s Shanghai.
The evening sale is led by a constellation of iconic works by celebrated artists during the pivotal periods of their careers, including Zao Wou-Ki’s 30.09.65 from his ‘Hurricane Period’, Yoshitomo Nara’s Untitled and Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Nets (TWAHZN) from the 2000s. Other highlights include contemporary icon Nicolas Party’s Still Life, making its debut in Shanghai, Poisons Innocents by Georges Mathieu and Ecriture a l'aube by Chu Teh-Chun. Liu Xiaohui, Xia Yu and Ju Ting form a refreshing line-up that epitomises the new vision of Chinese contemporary art, while Hernan Bas, Vojtěch Kovařík and Mehdi Ghadyanloo continue to reinvigorate Western painting traditions and methods.
