Auction introduction: This autumn, Christie’s Hong Kong is honoured to present an exceptional array of Important Chinese ceramics and works of Art from private collections across the globe, all with notable provenance and completely fresh to the market. Key highlights include a magnificent celadon-glazed carved ‘Dragon’ meiping vase dating to the Qianlong period; hailing as The Property of a Lady, it was acquired from Christie’s Hong Kong in 1996 and not seen in the open market since. Further highlights include an important early Ming blue and white ‘fruits’ bowl dating to the Xuande reign (1426-1435), consigned from a Hong Kong collector; a very rare and finely enamelled pair of doucai waterpots dating to the Yongzheng reign and a selection of important 17th century porcelain from the Butler Family Collection, UK. The auction, comprised of nearly 200 lots will also showcase ceramics and works of art from the Han to the Tang dynasties, Song ceramics, Ming and Qing Imperial porcelain, jade carvings, Buddhist art, scholarly objects and Zitan and Huanghuali furniture.
