Auction introduction: This Spring, Christie’s Hong Kong proudly presents ‘A Connoisseur’s Studio - The Cissy and Robert Tang Collection of Chinese Classical Furniture’. The auction is comprised of exquisite huanghuali furniture and scholarly objects thoughtfully assembled 30 years ago by the Justice Robert Tang. Many of the pieces in the collection were acquired from esteemed dealers and cherished lifelong friends, including Robert Ellsworth and Cola Ma. The furniture exhibits a diverse array of rare forms suitable for the studio and reflect the collectors’ personal taste in the classical arts. The collection includes a magnificent pair of huanghuali yoke-back armchairs, 17th century, and an extremely rare pair of huanghuali bookshelves, 17th century among the many highlights.
