Auction introduction: This season’s Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern Art online sale, open for bidding from 28 October to 11 November, celebrates the vibrant and diverse artistic expressions spanning North Africa, Egypt, the Levant, Iraq and Iran. Highlights of the sale include Samia Halaby’s captivating Arabic Art from Jerusalem, created in 1995, alongside Saloua Raouda Choucair’s poetic brass and aluminium sculpture Dual. The sale also offers seminal works by pioneering female modernists including Etel Adnan, Huguette Caland, Juliana Seraphim, BAYA, and Fahrelnissa Zeid. Contemporary voices such as Manal Al Dowayan, Tala Madani, and Abdulnasser Gharem feature alongside modern masters at accessible price points including by Paul Guiragossian, Aref El Rayess, Hamed Ewais, and Abdul Halim Radwi. Further highlights include a distinguished group from the Dalloul Collection, Beirut, Lebanon, featuring Dia Al-Azzawi’s Mantiq al-tayr (Conference of the Birds, no. 1), a vibrant facial landscape on paper by Marwan, a delicate geometric work on paper adorned with gold leaf by the Saudi artist Sarah Mohanna Al Abdali, and a powerful photocollage print from Hazem Harb’s Archeology of Occupation series.
