Auction introduction: Following the strongest ever start to a year for our Whisky and Spirits business in Asia, Sotheby’s Hong Kong is delighted to present the next edition of Distilled | Whisky + Moutai. This exceptional iteration of our popular online Whisky + Moutai auction series is led by 121 lots of the most sought-after rare Scotch and Japanese whiskies. These include the perennially popular and ever scarce Macallan Fine & Rare 51-, 37- and 35-Year-Old, Tales of The Macallan 71-Year-Old, and Macallan 52-Year-Old bottlings. Amongst other gems from Scotland and Japan, we find incredible bottles from Karuizawa and Yamazaki, particular highlights of which are the Sapphire Geisha 31- and 36-Year-Old set, and an extremely rare public outing for Yamazaki’s spectacular “Junshin” special edition. Following the Whisky offering, Chinese spirit Kweichow Moutai truly comes to the fore, dominating the second half of the sale with 135 lots, comprising a raft of Flying Fairy original releases and Moutai special editions from the 1980s right up to the present day. High points include nearly 3 complete decades of Flying Fairy releases including almost every year between 1990 and 2022, plenty of HK Friends Of Moutai Special Editions and rare commemorative Jeroboams released in 2021 for the 100th Anniversary of The Panama Pacific International Expo Gold Award. Distilled | Whisky + Moutai will open for bidding on Wednesday 3 May, with the lots beginning to close at 1-minute intervals online from 11AM HKT on Tuesday 16 May.
