Auction introduction: This June, Christie’s presents Post-War to Present, a vibrant summer auction featuring defining works of the post-war era alongside some of the most exciting contemporary artists working today.
Taking place on 26 June in London, the sale features standout works by contemporary artists such as Victor Man’s uncanny The Chandler (2013), Luc Tuymans’s elegant Exhibit #5 (2002), Lynette Yiadom-Boakye’s dreamlike 8pm Zaragoza (2011), and KAWS’s poignant, Pietà-inspired GONE (2018).
The Post-War section includes key works by Georg Baselitz and Richard Serra, as well as a bold, large-scale painting by A.R. Penck. British art is well represented, with two striking butterfly works by Damien Hirst, a signature block sculpture by Antony Gormley, and a joyful iPad drawing by David Hockney, offered alongside his current major exhibition at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris.
Bringing together exciting contemporary voices — such as Flora Yukhnovich, Pam Evelyn, Yu Nishimura, Issy Wood and Louis Fratino — Post-War to Present offers a vibrant selection for the summer season.
