Auction introduction: This season’s Old Master Paintings and Sculpture: Part II sale features paintings and sculpture from five centuries of European artistic production. The auction with begins with 10 properties from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, representing some of the most renowned artists of the Dutch Golden Age. Additional sale highlights include a pair of altarpiece wings by Bartholomäus Bruyn recently restored to the heirs of Ralph von Klemperer, a striking Allegory of Natural Law by an unknown Florentine painter and a portrait by Thomas Lawrence of his boyhood friend, from the Estate of Dr Jeffrey Lant. There is something for every collector this season — paintings and sculpture on every scale, even a gold and gem-set Italian pendant from the end of the 16th or early 17th century, with over 25 works selling without reserve.
