Auction introduction: Sotheby’s Wine London is delighted to present two days of auctions: Finest & Rarest Wines | London Edition, Day 1 and Day 2. Featuring a wonderful selection of consignments, each reflecting the unique and personal touch of the collector, this two-day sale offers an impressive variety. From world-famous Bordeaux Châteaux, leading Burgundy Domaines, and admired Rhône names, to the finest Champagne Maisons and Californian cult producers, even the most discerning collectors will find plenty to enjoy. The first collection on Day 2 is a curated offering of legendary wines, including Haut Brion 1928, 1982 and 1989, Lafite 1961 in magnum, Lafleur 1989, Rousseau Chambertin 1990, and the rarely seen Henri Bonneau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Spéciale 1990 (only produced in 1990 and 1998). All these wines come from a loyal Sotheby’s client with precise tastes and form part of a meticulously assembled collection of only the finest and rarest bottles. Several of these lots were acquired through Sotheby’s auctions, while others were sourced from trusted UK merchants, and all have been kept in professional storage prior to their consignment to Sotheby’s for this sale. This is followed by Part II of A Lavish Pristine Collection: a monumental single-owner collection spanning over four decades, led by Bordeaux and Burgundy. This collection encompasses wines across all stages of maturity – from fully evolved legends such as Haut Brion 1982, Ducru Beaucaillou 1996 or Angélus 1995, to coveted recent releases – presented in a staggering array of formats, including Imperials. Purchased from well-established UK wine merchants and stored under ideal professional conditions since acquisition, this cellar is a celebration of vinous abundance and grandeur in every sense.
