The Modern Evening Auction in May 2026 will feature works that capture the spirit of artists working around the globe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries—those who dared to challenge established norms of artistic practice to create a new and wholly modern vision of art. Highlighted by masterworks from the Collection of Jean & Terry de Gunzburg, this sale traces the historic throughlines and cross-continental dialogues between artists working across Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, Dada and Surrealism, German Expressionism and Bauhaus and into Abstract Expressionism and beyond. The Modern Evening Auction will spotlight these critical developments of the last 150 years, uniting those masterworks that define art history as we know it today.
