Auction introduction: Christie’s Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings auction will be held on 2 December, presenting over 240 works from private collections sourced globally and timeless masterpieces in the category. The auction will present Lotus, a luxurious gold folding screen by Zhang Daqian. Other highlights by the artist include a splashed-colour landscape from the collection of Richard Yee, a world-renowned Chinese-American photographer, and Lotus from the collection of renowned Hong Kong Film Director Chor Yuen and Actress Nam Hung. The sale will also feature three Lin Fengmian masterpieces from the Robert Chang collection. Other notable works include five Huang Binhong paintings and calligraphy from the Xicha’an Collection, a group of Wu Guanzhong paintings from a distinguished North American collection, and other works by 20th and 21st-century masters such as Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong, Li Huayi, and Liu Dan.
