Armenian American painter, born in the Ottoman Empire, graduated from the Central Academy of Art, a pioneer of Abstract Expressionism. His early works were figurative paintings, whose style was influenced by Impressionism and Cubism, and then gradually turned to abstract. The Armenian Massacre is the source of inspiration for most of his works. He has borrowed Surrealism and used symbols with lyrical colors to express the painful childhood experience and his memory of his mother.
