Louise Bourgeois
A French-American artist, known for her large-scale sculptures and installations, Louise Bourgeois was born in Paris, and went to United States in 1938. Her paintings and printmaking are close to Surrealism in the early years, and later began to create sculptures. She uses bronze, marble, latex, etc. as materials to integrate performances, installations and other forms into her works. They are full of symbolic meaning, her style has deeply influenced artists of future generation, especially female artists. The series of large spider images is the mostly well known to the public.
