Dutch painter, born in Amersfoort, graduated from the National Academy of Arts in Amsterdam. Piet Mondrian is the artist behind the Stylistic Movement and one of the founders of non-figurative painting who had great influence on the architecture and design of future generations. His artistic direction has undergone a transition from figurative to abstract style, until reduced the images to simple geometric elements. His works are mostly composed of various grids of vertical and horizontal lines, rectangles and squares.
