Chinese-French artist, born in Shunqing of Sichuan province (now Nanchong City). San Yu studied painting at Académie de la Grande Chaumière and stayed in Paris after graduated. He is the representative of the Chinese artists in School of Paris, whose paintings are fusion of Chinese and Western styles. The female bodies, flowers, and animals are the common themes of San Yu's works. His early works have elegant colors and smooth lines, pink and white tones overflowing with a pleasant and romantic mood, and later works are richer in oriental colors. The animals are hovering in the desert on his paintings, like a portrayal of one's own experience.
