Jean Fautrier
French painter, illustrator, printmaker and sculptor, known for his participation in the Informalist movement, one of the most important practitioners of Tachism. Jean Fautrier was born in Paris, then moved to London, and studied at the Royal Academy of Art and Slade School . His works have evolved from contemplative natural figure paintings to almost completely abstract gestures and shapes. Now his works have been collected by the Museum of Modern Art in Chicago, the National Gallery in Washington, DC, and the Tate Gallery in London.
