A famous painter, printmaker, sculptor and art theorist at the end of the German Middle Ages and the Renaissance. He was born in a goldsmith family in Nuremberg. Albrecht Dürer was famous in Europe for his proficient woodcut prints in his twenties, and was considered the best artist in the Northern Renaissance. His works include altars, religious works, figure paintings and self-portraits, and copper engravings. The representative works include Apocalypse series and Praying Hands etc.
