Fernand Léger
French painter, sculptor and film director, born in Normandy. Léger has absorbed the essence of avant-garde movements, including Cubism, Futurism, Purism and Stylism, to form his own style. Most of his themes came from objects made by industrial civilization. He also introduces the image of humans into the mechanical world, and transforms his strong emotions toward the machines into painting with objects like cones, cylinders, and polyhedrons, that have strong industrial features.
