One of the French Art Nouveau artists, born in a family of craftsmen in Nancy of France, whose works are mainly glass. He studied philosophy, zoology, botany, and mineralogy in Germany, and learned how to process glass and wood. In 1874, he inherited his father's handicraft workshop, later expanded it into a workshop for the production of porcelain, glass and wood products. He invented a series of glass cafts, the most distinctive of which is the glass staining technology.
